Projects
Project description
The 7280R was the biggest tractor of this range for this year. Its a big brute designed mainly as a draft tractor but has a 50kph box and front suspension so it can rattle along the road if needs be. Its fitted with a Saur-Danfoss IVT transmission
Reason for Job:
This tractor has not arrived from local farm and has covered over 12000 engine hours
Tractor had stopped driving altogether with a lot of steel debris in oil
Main problems found:
Transmission was stripped to unveil one of the worst failings we at Swinnerton had ever seen. Many of the bearings had failed and in-turn broken most teeth off most shafts and planetary setups. Further more the clutch packs had failed so badly they had wrecked the outer and inner cans
Remedy:
Wash tractor thoroughly
Remove cab then transmission from tractor in workshop
Strip transmission , replace bearings, clutch packs and broken gears
Re-fit gearbox and put back end back on tractor
Then give a hour on dyno to check for leaks at temperature
Finally a 2 hour session on a set of discs to ensure machine was functioning perfectly
