Projects
Project description
This 220hp crawler is good value for money and is fast becoming a popular choice for medium sized farms that don’t have a lot of road work to do. They are to small for the larger scale operations but perform great on most 4m or smaller cultivation and drill equipment. The Funk transmission was considered the week point of these machines by many, however a good operator that can pick a steady gear and not shift at every given opportunity could see good high hours before a box overhaul.
Reason for Job:
Tractor was driving however on a service customer had found some large pieces of steel in main suction filter. Transmission calibration performed very high in F2 & R but in F1 ran out of tolerance when tractor was very hot.
Main problems found:
Large pieces of steel came from the internal pump drive gear which by its self wouldn’t have been an expensive fix. However customer wanted a full overhaul to investigate F1 pack for piece of mind. They were planning on keeping tractor for a good few years and considered this a wise investment.
We found F2 & R were tired but could have gone on for a few more hours. F1 unfortunately had been hot, removing most of the friction material and warping steel plates.
Remedy:
Didn’t need to wash this tractor as she was fairly clean on arrival
Remove engine with whole front end
Remove transmission
Strip box and quote
Re build box
Flush transmission oil casings and lines
Re-Fit box and front end
Test box in workshop with pressure gauges and calibrate
Test on dyno for 1 hours to check for leaks
With customers permission we put a trailed cultivator on the back and did half a days work
Return tractor to customer
