Project description
This 175hp (boosted to 190ish) tractor was around the middle of the 6R range but the smallest of that wheelbase. The tractor came with 3 transmission options:
Auto/PowerQuad, AutoPowr IVT, Direct drive
This particular model is a AutoPowr ZF Eccom 2.0
Reason for Job:
Tractor had lost drive and also locked engine up. We removed oil to find heavy debris in oil and suction screen.
It had transpired that brakes had failed a month or two before.
Main problems found:
Lack of lubrication! The brake failure had caused centre shaft of transmission to block up with with fine paste from grinding surfaces. This stops oil being distributed around the box for lubrication, resulting in catastrophic failure of internal planetary gears and shafts.
Remedy:
Remove cab then wash off tractor thoroughly on top and underneath gearbox area
Remove transmission
Strip box and quote
Re build box
Remove rear PTO housing to clean debris out of back end form brake failure
Re-Fit box
Test box in workshop with pressure gauges and calibrate
Test on dyno for 2 hours to check for leaks
Then road for two hours
Return tractor to customer
