Projects
Project description
Don’t see many of these in the UK, debuted in January 1979. They called them the 2+2 and they were unique in the market. The name-calling started right away. Some of the more polite ones included “anteater,” “land shark,” “worm” and “Snoopy,”
Reason for Job:
The tractor was imported from the USA by our customer with a known drive fault. After spending 18 months as a shed ornament, she was put on a low loader and sent in. Our instructions were to get the tractor working mechanically and to re-furbish cab interior. The owner wanted to sort exterior cosmetics themselves.
Main problems found:
TA ( torque amplifier) had failed.
Bearing had failed on hyd pump drive.
Bearing had failed on transmission input shaft.
PTO clutch was burnt out.
Prop-shafts on input to trans and 4WD to front axle had excessive wear.
Cab lining was hanging out.
Remedy:
Reconditioned transmission with new bearings seals and a couple of shafts.
New prop-shafts.
Modified hydraulic pump drive and pump.
New plates and seals in PTO drive.
New seat.
New Weston pattern cab lining kit.
