Projects
Project description
Considered by many to be one of the best series that John Deere have ever built, they often came out the dealerships at over 240hp but were more than well enough built to deal with it. These machines could achieve 11 ton ballasted up, this made it a superb draft tractor in the UK.
Reason for Job:
The tractor was driving but was making a lot of un savoury noises. The customer had also checked the oil and found a heavy amount of steel contamination.
Main problems found:
We are unsure of the start of the chain reaction but we are fairly sure a bearing failed on the reverse idler shaft, this resulted in a cascade of broken gears that sat directly below the offending shaft. However, due to the high hours on the machine, she also had heavy wear on the friction material and surrounding outer clutch housings.
Remedy:
No need to wash this tractor as she was fairly clean on arrival
Remove transmission
Strip box and quote
Re build box
Flush transmission oil casings and lines
Re-Fit box
Test box in workshop with pressure gauges and calibrate
Test on dyno for 1 hour to check for leaks
With customers permission we put a trailed cultivator behind and did half a days hard work
Return tractor to customer
