Projects
Project description
The Deutz- Fahr Agrostar 6.61 is the biggest model in the range for that year set at 140hp. It is powered by a 6 cylinder Deutz air cooled engine then coupled to a Deutz manual transmission with a hi-low splitter (some would say its very ZF looking)
Reason for Job:
Tractor was suffering from low transmission pressure, also had become noisy and difficult to change gear
Main problems found:
After splitting the tractor we found the transmission lubrication pump had worn to the point of failure
In turn this had caused a number of bearings to fail and chip a couple of teeth of gears
We also found 2 synchronisers had worn out of tolerance which was creating the difficult gear changes
Remedy:
Wash tractor thoroughly
Remove front end then remove transmission
Strip transmission and identify problems
Replace bearings, broken gears and synchronisers
Re-fit gearbox then mate front end on
Then give a hour on dyno to check for leaks at temperature
Finally a 2 hour road test to ensure tractor is working correctly and leak free
